Fake doctors use forged certificates to register with Rajasthan Medical Council

Several unqualified individuals registered as doctors under the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) using forged documents and certificates of doctors from other states, officials said.
Documents accessed by India Today revealed a long list of fake doctors who do not have any medical degree and managed to register with the RMC. Many of them have begun practising.
The registration process with the RMC mandates thorough verification of documents. Doctors already registered with other state medical councils must submit proof of their qualifications, which should undergo proper verification.
However, in this case, the ‘doctors’ submitted forged copies of registration certificates and No Objection Certificates (NOCs), which the RMC made no attempt to verify.
Following the row, the registrar of the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), along with two other personnel, were suspended in connection with this case on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported.
The decision was taken on an interim report by a five-member committee constituted by Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar. Based on the interim report of the committee, the registrar of the council, Dr Rajesh Sharma, has been suspended with immediate effect. Assistant administrative officer Akhilesh Mathur and junior assistant Farhan were also suspended, an official said.
Dr Girdhar Gopal Goyal, Chief Specialist (Surgery) of Sawai Mansingh Hospital, has been given additional charge of the RMC registrar.
Some of these ‘doctors’ include, one Sarimul Majumdar, who allegedly used the credentials of a Dr Komethagam from Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Shantanu Kumar, who showed a fake registration certificate of Bihar Medical Council. However, no doctor is registered under that registration number in Bihar.
Similarly, another person, Pankaj Yadav, showed a Bihar Medical Council registration certificate, bearing a number which cannot be found in Bihar. Deepak Choudhary showed a similar Bihar Medical Council registration number, which couldn’t be verified.
Another man, Devender Nehra, forged a certificate using the credentials of Dr Vaishnavi Baliram of Maharashtra Medical Council. Similarly, Geeta Kumari used the credentials of Dr Pawar Mandar Hemant of the Maharashtra Medical Council to register in Rajasthan, officials added.
The Anti Corruption Bureau said that it would legally examine the matter. “If we find any corruption angle in the case or if public servants are involved in the corruption, we will register an FIR and will begin an investigation.”, Dr Ravi Prakash Meharda, DG, Anti Corruption Bureau, told India Today TV.
